This role is for a Senior Software Engineer, Full Stack on the Toast restaurant technology platform team.

Write clean, maintainable, testable code aligned with Toast engineering standards, and take an active part in code reviews
Troubleshoot production issues in owned areas, contribute to root-cause analysis, and support the team during critical phases and on-call
Deliver on commitments with predictable cycle time, and communicate progress, risks and dependencies early
Own components or features end-to-end within established architectural patterns, while growing toward larger system ownership

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related discipline
6 to 9 years of experience in software or full stack development
Strong backend experience in Java, with hands-on Kotlin experience or a clear willingness to become productive in it quickly
Strong frontend experience with React (or Angular) and TypeScript/JavaScript
Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs and integrating with third-party systems
Hands-on experience with a cloud platform, preferably AWS (e.g., ECS/EKS, Lambda, SQS/SNS, S3, RDS/DynamoDB)
AI fluency: regular, practical use of AI coding assistants (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot) in your workflow, and good judgment in reviewing and validating AI-generated code
Working knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases, including schema design and query tuning
