Senior macOS Objective-C Developer

This role involves independently handling development tickets, investigating defects and technical issues, and proposing technical solutions in a large, mature macOS codebase. You will implement, test, and deliver fixes and product enhancements, developing primarily in Objective-C and modern C++, with Swift where appropriate. The work includes AppKit/Cocoa and macOS-specific application architecture, Core Data, multithreading and concurrency using Grand Central Dispatch, and resolving memory management, stability, and performance issues. You will also use debugging and profiling tools, add and maintain unit and acceptance tests, participate in code reviews, work across multiple frameworks, and utilize AI coding agents while critically reviewing their output.

Responsibilities

• Independently pick up and analyze development tickets
• Investigate defects and technical issues in a large, mature macOS codebase
• Propose technical solutions based on analysis of the existing implementation
• Implement, test, and deliver fixes and product enhancements
• Develop primarily in Objective-C and modern C++, with Swift where appropriate
• Work with AppKit/Cocoa and macOS-specific application architecture
• Develop and maintain functionality using Core Data
• Work with multithreading and concurrency using Grand Central Dispatch and related technologies
• Investigate and resolve memory-management, stability, and performance issues
• Use debugging and profiling tools to diagnose complex application behavior
• Add and maintain unit and acceptance tests
• Participate actively in code reviews
• Work across multiple frameworks and modules within a large Xcode workspace
• Use AI coding agents for investigation, testing, refactoring, and development support
• Critically review, validate, and improve AI-generated solutions before integrating them into the production codebase
• Deliver complete, tested, and review-ready changes with limited day-to-day supervision
• Collaborate with other macOS developers and participate in technical discussions with the customer team

Requirements

• 5+ years of production Objective-C development for macOS
• Strong hands-on experience with AppKit and Cocoa
• Proven experience developing and maintaining complex production macOS applications
• Strong practical knowledge of modern C++ (C++17 or later)
• Ability to work confidently across Objective-C and C++ code
• Experience working with large, mature, long-lived codebases
• Experience with multi-framework Xcode workspaces
• Strong knowledge of Core Data
• Strong understanding of Grand Central Dispatch, multithreading, and concurrency
• Strong understanding of memory management in macOS applications
• Practical experience with debugging and performance profiling
• Ability to investigate technical problems independently and identify root causes
• Ability to propose and implement technically sound solutions with minimal supervision
• Experience delivering tested, production-ready, review-ready code
• Practical experience using AI coding agents as part of daily software development
• Ability to critically assess AI-generated code and technical suggestions rather than using them without validation
• Experience participating in code reviews
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• English level B2/C1 for daily written and verbal communication, technical discussions, and code reviews
