Visual Layer, now part of Camtek, is building its AI Software center in Tel Aviv. Visual Layer's core engine understands visual data at scale: it finds duplicates, outliers, mislabels, and anomalies across millions of images without manual tagging. Camtek builds inspection and metrology systems for the semiconductor industry. Together, we are bringing state-of-the-art AI software products into high-volume industrial inspection. The research team is small and senior: PhDs and published researchers working next to fast, production-minded engineers. We build, and we ship.

Responsibilities

• Develop scalable AI-powered backend systems for visual data analysis in the semiconductor industry
• Build data pipelines, search services, and APIs that process millions of images
• Work closely with AI researchers and engineering teams

Requirements

• 5+ years of backend development experience in Python
• Strong SQL skills and experience with database optimization
• Experience building scalable data processing pipelines
• Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes in production
• Experience integrating ML/AI models into production systems
• Experience developing APIs (REST/gRPC)
• Experience using AI coding tools such as Cursor or Claude Code
• Strong ownership and ability to lead development end-to-end

Nice to have

• Experience with Vector Databases, embeddings, or vector search
• Experience with LLMs, VLMs, or AI agents
• Knowledge of FastAPI, Ray, Celery, or distributed systems
• Experience with GPU inference and Computer Vision
• Background in semiconductor or industrial inspection systems
