Develop high-performance Java services processing large volumes of energy data and modernize the inherited platform through 2027 to keep a smart meter data platform (Transition Smart Energy Platform) for a German transmission system operator fast and stable.

Responsibilities

Build an energy data platform, serving millions of end-users via innovative technologies
Write well-tested, clean, readable, and reusable code
Perform code reviews
Lead by example and mentor junior engineers on software engineering best practices
Contribute to improving the engineering processes

Requirements

5+ years of experience in Java development
Deep knowledge of Java 8+ features
Strong experience with Spring Framework (Spring Boot)
Solid understanding of messaging systems (Kafka)
Good knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes
Experience with cloud platforms (Azure)
Experience in building and optimizing highly scalable distributed systems
Experience with relational databases and SQL optimization
Understanding of object-oriented design principles, design patterns, and SOLID principles
Good knowledge of software development best practices (TDD, CI/CD)
Intermediate German proficiency
Strong communication and leadership skills
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field

Nice to have

Experience with GraphQL
Experience with Time Series databases (InfluxDB or similar)
Knowledge of energy domain specifics (e.g., smart meter data processing)
