This internship is intended for students in their penultimate/final year of education in an accredited full-time PhD degree program in Israel. Interns will be required to be available to work part-time alongside your studies for a minimum of 26 weeks starting early 2027 (starting in March, April or May) for the duration of the program. Research-focused engineering interns are embedded throughout the company, contributing to the setup of large-scale tests and deploying promising ideas quickly and broadly.

Responsibilities

Participate in research to develop solutions for real-world, large-scale problems
Research, conceive, and develop software applications to extend and improve on Google's product offering
Contribute to a wide variety of projects utilising natural language processing, artificial intelligence, data compression, machine learning, and search technologies

Requirements

Currently enrolled in a PhD degree in Computer Science or a related technical field in Israel, and in your penultimate/final year of education
Experience in one or more Research areas: Natural Language Understanding/Processing, Computer Vision, LLMs, Machine Learning, Algorithmic Foundations of Optimization, Data Mining, Machine Intelligence, AI/ML Algorithms, Deep Learning or Image Processing, multimodal, multilingual and reinforcement learning
Experience and profiency in one or more general purpose programming languages: Java, C++, Python, or Go
Experience with research from previous internships, full-time industry experience, personal projects, lab work, or published papers (being listed as author)

Nice to have

Experience as a researcher, including internships, full-time, or at a lab
Experience contributing to research communities or efforts, including publishing papers in conferences or journals
Ability to design and execute on research agendas
Ability to complete a 26 week internship in Israel starting between March to May 2027

Interns will be required to be available to work part-time (minimum 2 days a week, maximum 4 days a week) alongside your studies
Minimum of 26 weeks starting early 2027 (starting in March, April or May) for the duration of the program
