The International Accelerator Engineering team at Affirm is seeking a Senior Software Engineer. This full-stack team is based in Europe, culturally rooted in Silicon Valley, and focuses on building Direct-to-Consumer products for Canada, the UK, and future international markets, aiming to improve the financial lives of over 20 million people.

Responsibilities

• Own and deliver quarterly goals for your team.
• Lead engineers on your team through ambiguity to solve open-ended problems, ensuring everyone is supported throughout delivery.
• Support peers and stakeholders in the product development lifecycle by collaborating with product management, design & analytics.
• Participate in ideation, articulate technical constraints, and partner on decisions that properly consider risks and trade-offs.
• Proactively identify project, process, technology or business issues, advocate for them, and lead in solving them.
• Support the operations and availability of your team’s artifacts by creating and monitoring metrics, escalating when needed, and supporting “keep the lights on” & on-call efforts.
• Foster a culture of quality and ownership on your team by setting or improving code review and design standards.
• Advocate for quality and ownership beyond your team through writing and tech talks.
• Help develop talent on your team by providing feedback and guidance, and leading by example.

Requirements

• Total of 4+ years of experience as a software engineer.
• Experienced in designing, developing and launching backend systems at scale using technologies like Python, Kotlin, AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
• Experience shipping web apps using declarative UI frameworks like React or Vue.
• Efficiently use AI to assist in delivering high-quality products on a daily basis.
• Experience defining a technical plan for the delivery of a significant feature or system component with an elegant, simple and extensible design.
• Write high-quality code that is easily understood and used by others.
• Proficient at making significant changes in a large code base, and have developed a suite of tools and practices that enable safe changes.
• Demonstrated ownership of your growth, proactively seeking feedback from your team, manager, and stakeholders.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills that support effective collaboration with a global engineering team.

• Base Pay Range per year: £120,000 - £168,000.
