Описание

As a Staff Network Engineer at vCluster Labs, you will build automation logic for configuring switches in AI Clouds running on InfiniBand and high-speed Ethernet fabrics, replacing manual per-customer switch setup. You will start in a small R&D group and grow into owning this area.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build systems for automatic provisioning and configuration of NVIDIA switches and InfiniBand fabrics, including integration with NVIDIA UFM, replacing manual per-customer switch setup.
  • Build the control loop to keep switch, VLAN, and VXLAN state consistent with platform intent, detect drift, and safely reconcile it in production.
  • Build the NAT gateway and L4 load balancing layer for tenant cluster connectivity, with built-in failover.
  • Define how the network layer behaves at large scale, including BGP route table limits, convergence, failover, and handling failures under real AI workloads.
  • Run automation on real AI Cloud environments, identify issues, and translate operational lessons into product behavior.
  • Help decide what to build versus integrate with partner solutions, write design and requirements documents, and set networking standards across vCluster products.

Requirements

  • Experience building network automation and shipping software that programmatically configures switches, routers, or load balancers, ideally as part of a product or internal platform.
  • Hands-on experience with NVIDIA UFM, NVIDIA Spectrum or Quantum switches, Cumulus Linux, or NVUE, including programming against their APIs.
  • Strong command of InfiniBand, VLAN, VXLAN and EVPN, and BGP, including their behavior and failure at production scale.
  • Experience running networks at real production scale, observing failures, and fixing root causes with automation.
  • Ability to write production code in Go or Python, use version control and code review, and treat network configuration as code.

Nice to have

  • Experience tuning fabrics for GPU training or inference workloads, such as RoCEv2, congestion control, rail-optimized topologies, or Spectrum-X.
  • Experience building network automation at a GPU cloud, hyperscaler, or large CDN.
  • Experience building L4 load balancers or NAT gateways, including with eBPF/XDP or DPDK.
  • Contributions to networking or Kubernetes projects such as SONiC, FRRouting, Cilium, or MetalLB.

We offer

  • Competitive compensation package, including equity.
  • Health, dental, vision, and life insurance, including plans for you and eligible dependents (benefits vary depending on country).
  • Flexible working schedule where results matter more than clocking in and out.
  • Flexible work environment, with willingness to adjust as life changes.
  • Remote work possible.
  • Salary in foreign currency.
