Our architecture team is seeking a Technical Director to be the floating senior technical authority for engineering teams in Israel, particularly for problems that cross ownership boundaries or lack an obvious owner. This role involves re-architecting for AI possibilities.

Responsibilities

Own the technical direction for problems spanning product lines, maintaining the big picture as teams move fast
Work with Product Management to challenge non-viable requirements and reshape them into buildable and scalable solutions
Write code, review designs and pull requests, and build prototypes to resolve debates with evidence
Collaborate with directors, senior staff, and principal engineers as an extension of the architecture team, and mentor engineers
Use AI daily across design, code, and investigation, demonstrating its acceleration and pitfalls, and help shape future software development

Requirements

10+ years of software engineering experience with significant depth in architecture at scale
Deep experience in distributed systems and cloud computing
Prior CTO, Chief Architect, or equivalent senior architecture role
Hands-on fluency: able to read unfamiliar code, contribute, debug distributed failures, and review code with authority in various languages
Generalist range: shipped across services, data, infrastructure, or delivery, and become productive in new domains quickly
Earned authority: people follow you due to respected judgment
Working fluency with AI-assisted development, including its failure modes
Strong written and verbal communication in English, comfortable working across a seven-hour time zone gap
Based in Israel, working from the Tel Aviv office

Nice to have

Depth in data processing and streaming (Kafka, Spark, Flink), cloud platform and Kubernetes, or CI/CD and release engineering
Experience with cybersecurity or security product platforms
Experience moving an organization from legacy patterns to modern architecture
Platform engineering patterns, FinOps, and cost optimization at scale
Patents, public technical writing, or open-source contributions
