Senior Data Engineer (Google Cloud Platform / BigQuery)

This role is for an experienced Senior Data Engineer for a client assignment in Sweden, focusing on building scalable, reliable, and high-performance data pipelines within a modern Data & Analytics environment. It is ideal for someone passionate about cloud data engineering, data architecture, and delivering high-quality data solutions.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain scalable data pipelines using Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
• Build and optimize data transformations using SQL, dbt and Jinja
• Develop and manage cloud infrastructure using Terraform
• Work with BigQuery, Cloud Functions, Dataflow, Cloud Run Services, Cloud Run Jobs and Cloud Build
• Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub
• Support event-driven data processing using Kafka or similar technologies
• Design and optimize data warehouse models using dimensional modelling principles such as Kimball
• Ensure data quality, performance, reliability and maintainability
• Collaborate with architects, developers and business stakeholders

Requirements

• Strong hands-on experience with SQL, dbt and Jinja
• Excellent experience with Terraform
• Solid experience with GCP and BigQuery
• Experience with Cloud Functions, Dataflow, Cloud Run and Cloud Build
• Strong knowledge of GitHub and CI/CD
• Experience with Kafka or equivalent event-streaming technologies
• Strong understanding of Data Warehousing and Kimball modelling
• Experience in BigQuery and data pipeline performance optimization
• Fluent English communication skills
