Software Engineer (python,Django,Pandas/ Polars)

This role is for a Software Engineer at NielsenIQ, focusing on Python development with Django, Pandas, and Polars.

Responsibilities

• Understand ORM sufficiently to identify bad queries.
• Work with Django REST Framework, including serializers, viewsets, permissions, authentication, pagination, versioned endpoints, and maintaining a clean OpenAPI/Swagger contract.
• Handle PostgreSQL and SQL schema design, migrations, indexing, reading query plans, transaction behavior, and writing non-trivial SQL manually.
• Assess whether a query will perform well under load.
• Utilize message queue/task queue technologies such as Celery with Redis or RabbitMQ, RQ, or equivalents.
• Manage queues and workers, scheduling, retries with backoff and failure handling, and debugging failed jobs.

Requirements

• Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS) including Cloud Run or equivalent compute, Cloud SQL, Cloud Storage, Secret Manager.
• Sufficient IAM literacy to avoid over-granting permissions.
• Ability to deploy applications, read logs, and diagnose job failures.
